Each year Essex enters the English Primary Schools’ Chess Association inter-county competition. The country is divided into 3 regions for the first round in March – we play in the eastern zone. The successful teams go forward to the final, in April or May.
The Under 9 Team Manager, Michael Catabay, selects his team of 12 players from the strongest players in the EJCA tournaments throughout the year. Anyone in Year 4 or below is eligible to be selected.
