This was certainly one of the best performances by the team, a day full of fun, excitement, and learning.
A fantastic score from Joel, Jacob and Tudor, who never lost a game, and very well done to all the players who played skilfully on their respective boards.
So many stories to share from the games our children have played like the one from Alexander’s game who managed to create a very good pawn structure after the exchanged, the almost kiss of death checkmate in Jacob’s game, the tactical abilities of different players to gain a material or positional advantage and so many more. But I hope players will remember the story of the boy who once didn’t know how to play but fell in love in the game and was triumphant because he studied hard and took his time to calculate the possibilities in the game.
A big applause to Ishaan who captained the team. And for those who are older, next year I wish you all the best in the Under 11s.
A massive thank you to each parent who volunteered to help out in different aspects of the day.
Congratulations, Essex came 4th out of 12 teams that competed.
